During this holiday season, I have learned to be grateful for the little things and that makes life so much sweeter and better. Today, for instance, I was daydreaming about travelling to South America on a trip, and then I was brought back to reality realized that I have obligations such as a family to support and love, and instead, read a book about women in art and drank hot chocolate with gluten free marshmallows and I got so much out of it! It was such a treat.

My longing for travel left me. Sometimes the BIG things in life we NEED to have, or think we need, are not so important. Though it is hard to let go, sometimes it's the best thing for me. For Thanksgiving, I had planned to visit some family in another city, but my plans got cancelled and though I was disappointed, I created a great week with new adventurous things I may otherwise not have had time to do and I got more sleep. In this particular situation, God didn't give me what I necessary wanted or thought was best, but gave us what I NEEDED - rest and relaxation! What a gift. When I trust God and His plan for my life, everything else falls into place.

I also find that when I become stir crazy and want to take off on a trip or discover something new, I will do a creative activity, such as make a new board on Pinterest, interior design work, scrapbooking, or water color painting. When we open our minds to creative endeavors, we can let our minds take us on our own exciting journey.
