Today I got the opportunity to watch one of the tennis greats, Caroline Garcia, play a match against a Romanian player named Sorana Cirstea. Caroline has publicly shared her struggle with bulimia and binge eating disorders recently and has been an inspiration to many. I, having dealt with and being in recovery from an eating disorder, felt grateful to hear her honesty and experience, strength, and hope. More on this in this article:
Eating disorders are a hidden disease and secretive. Many people are afraid to share their private struggles, but as can be seen from this article, it's better if you do. You are not alone and there is always help. Community is a big part of healing. As they say, "Illness begins with an I, whereas wellness begins with a we." Together we can do anything.
