Letting Go and Letting God

Back in 2018, after my mom passed away, I was in so much despair, I had to come to the realization that God is in charge and that everything happens for a reason. It is challenging sometimes to accept the things we cannot change - things and experiences we have been through that seem unfair or not right or just plain awful, but God always has a plan. What has helped me is always to see the good in every situation and how I can learn from the experience. Based on past experiences, I have seen the silver lining and realized how I can be of service in the world and help others who need it.
My mom was a very powerful woman though did not always use her power wisely. Often, she did not stand up for herself. It was hard growing up and seeing this beautiful, incredible woman lose touch with who she was and instead let other people and things rule her life. It was especially hard being the daughter of such a strong, wonderful woman who did not get to showcase all of her gifts and talents. I did not know until after she had passed what a successful career she had and how much she grew in her career in the few short years she worked from her early 20s to mid-30s. I did not see my mother as the confident, graceful woman she was in certain ways, which was sad.
Looking back, I get to see the mistakes that she made and learn from them.
Empowering women, particularly vulnerable ones, to live their best life, along with children, has become a passion of mine. Living in Las Vegas, I get to be involved in organizations that work to lift up and bring women strength through Christ. It is rewarding and a blessing. Had my mom not passed, I may never thought to help or serve this population. I am grateful that I get to see the good in this way.
"God is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him." - Nahum 1:7
